Less Is More Challenge

The challenge this week over on the "Less is More" blog is a sketch

http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2012/01/week-52-sketch.html

with a few ground rules
  • rectangular
  • in landscape orientation
  • with the bank remaining in a vertical postion
and here is my take on the sketch :-

( the photo has come out a little dark)

I used a big and juicy inkpad - mountain meadow and my brayer to colour the background card
then using a Tim Holtz stamp set "Urban Chic" from Stampers Anonymous and archival ink stamped the images.
Layered it onto black cardstock before attaching to main cardstock
The verse is from the same stamp set.
Hope you like it, your comments always appreciated.

1st Birthday Card

Its taken me a little while to get back into cardmaking after all the build up to Christmas.  However the juices are flowing again and as its my friends Grandaughters 1st Birthday next week I thought it was a good opportunity to get back into the swing

I've based the card on the janes sketch over at Just Magnolia Blogspot for challenge 141
http://justmagnolia.blogspot.com/2012/01/challenge-141-janes-sketch.html

I wanted something bright and colourful so dug out these papers from Artic Frog that I have had in my stash for a number of year.  The stamp in Tilda with presents and is coloured with Copics, finished off with peeloffs and gems.

the check paper is from craft creations and the blue card is bazzil, die cut teddy bear embellished using chalks, googly eyes and ribbon bow, candy from craft work cards.

Happy New Year

Apologies for the lack of posts, this was due to the busy time of year and blogging seemed to be way down my list.  I finally managed to get everything done for the festive holiday which we spent in a beautiful barn conversion in the peak district at Monyash nr Bakewell. It was the first time we've been away for Christmas and it was a lovely family time and certainly something we will be doing again.

New year ahead and hopefully lots of time for crafting, my new years resolution is to make at least one christmas card every week so that its not a mad rush come November, how long I will keep to it is anyones guess but I'm going to try, I also aim to try and finish all the patchwork projects started in the last 18 months.

Yesterday it was our monthly Scrapaholix crop, however due to problems with the kits arriving on time we have decided to work a month behind so we did not have a new kit for this month.  I decided to use up the Christmas kit from last month before starting on anything else and depspite a lot of chatting and catching up I managed to get 2 layouts done.

Papers from My Minds Eye "Lost and Found" collection

The first layout is based on the sketch from The Scraproom Blog
http://thescraproomblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/january-sketch-and-december-winner.html
The 2nd layout I did is based on this weeks sketch from Sketches In Thyme

In both layouts the photographs were taken at Christmas 2010

I look forward to reading your comments.
